HUGH CALLOWAY
January 13th, 2021 | Paid ObituaryHugh M. Calloway was born at his grandparents' home in Simms, TX to Ora B. McCommas Calloway and Tommy Ezekiel Calloway on October 6, 1930. He died on January 6, 2021 at home in Norman, Oklahoma, with his wife, Linda Felton Calloway. Hugh and Linda were married for almost 48 years and together have 6 wonderful children: Dan Calloway (Susan), Debi Wardell, Cathy Riccio, Rob Oviatt (Myra), Elizabeth McNamara (Kevin), and Rebecca Calloway (Tim Piotrowski). They have 14 precious grandchildren: Chantal, Luke, Jeremy, Peter, Megan, Geneva, Cecil, Ewan, Sawyer, Wyatt, Silas, and Muriel. Also 11 precious great grandchildren. Hugh loved his family dearly. Hugh was a veteran of the US Navy and held 2 Bachelor's degrees, one in Mathematics from the University of Texas and one in Business Administration from OCU. He was one of the first employees of the U.S. government to be trained in computers and had a long career working for the Department of the Army. He volunteered to serve in Vietnam as a civilian. After retiring from DOA he worked several years as a consultant in project management and then as a teacher of computer sciences for grades K-8 at St. Ladislaus school in Chicago. He was an Episcopalian and a gentle man who will be missed by his family and friends. A memorial service in Texas will be announced at a later date.
