March 25, 1941 December 11, 2020 Frank James Frison III was born on March 25, 1941 in Foreman, Arkansas to the late Louise Sims and Frank James Frison II. Our merciful God called Frank to eternal rest on December 11, 2020, after fighting a long illness, in Tacoma, Washington. In 1959, Frank graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School, in Texarkana, Texas. He moved to Tacoma in the 1960s while honorably serving his country in the U.S. Army, for nine years. From 1969 to 2002, he was a notable journeyman turned master plumber and pipefitter, as well as civil servant who worked on major commercial/industrial construction and maintenance projects in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and North Dakota. As part of his lifelong quest to mentor others and advance equal opportunity, from 1982 to 1984, Frank taught preparation classes for 17 different apprenticeships and inspected work sites as a recruited Tradesman Specialist for the Tacoma Urban League. Frank was a life-long Christian and a long-time member of Tacoma's St. John Baptist Church, and most recently a member of Allen AME Church. He proudly served as Past Master and active member of Egyptian Lodge No. 44, in Tacoma, under the Jurisdiction of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Washington F. & A.M. He was an esteemed member of the Ray Gibson's Caballeros Club and the Elks. To truly know Frank was to know he loved family, friends, fun, and an occasional debate. Greeting Frank was not complete without him humorously responding, "Old folks, new shoes!" He had no problem sharing his knowledge of just about everything. Frank was preceded in death by brother Willie B. Tibbs of southern California. Left to celebrate Frank's life are three children devotedly raised with the late Barbara Campbell-Frison: Sharmane Frison (Hayes), Darious Frison, and Channing Frison; seven step children devotedly raised with Wande Gertrude Frison-Stagg: John(Stacy) Stagg, Vande Stagg, Farris Stagg, Obie(Mindy) Stagg, Ubie (Merna) Stagg, Richard (Kelly) Stagg; ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and nine siblings: Willie C. (Yolonda) Miles, Ethel Betha, Dorothy Gatewood, Dave (Earnestine) Dotson (departed 1-8-2021), Myra (Carl) Williams, Roye (Sandy) Lane, Kenneth (Annie) Lane, John (Bridgette) Lane, and Dennis (Teresa) Lane. A host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends will forever cherish Frank's memory, too. Frank's Homegoing celebration will be hosted online, on January 22, 2021, at 1 PM PST. If you would like the access information for the celebration, please send your email address to [email protected] by January 21. In lieu of flowers, please send donations, in Frank's name, to Bates Technical College's Student Emergency Support Fund or a food bank of your choice. "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness" ~ II Timothy 4: 7-8
