Violet Lydia (Silcox) Kilgore, born January 4, 1928 to George and Freda Silcox in Summerdale, Alabama, went home to be with her savior, Jesus Christ, on January 11, 2021 in Springtown, Texas at the home of her son, Rodney. Rodney said of his mother's passing, "As I and my wife Rebecca held mother's hand, God took her other hand and led her to the eternal peace he had promised her. Immediately after she passed, the room was filled with a peace unlike any I had ever known. It was truly a peace that passeth all understanding". Violet grew up in Summerdale, Alabama. She met and married Tex Kilgore on April 5, 1946 and celebrated 57 years of life together. Most of her adult life was spent in Dallas and the last 37 years living in Queen City, Texas. She loved her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, and always said she could never make it without him. She loved her family and enjoyed any kind of celebration, and would usually be the last to leave. She loved southern gospel music and would listen for hours. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther D.
