Billie M. Banks-Johnson passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at her home in Argyle, TX surrounded by her loving family. She was 94. She was born October 5, 1926 to Willis & Mamie Hawkins in De Kalb, Texas. She graduated from De Kalb High School in 1944 and married Jimmie Loyd Yates in October 1944. They had 3 children, Melba, Jimmie & Twyla. Billie was retired from RRAD and a member of the Lake Dallas Church of Christ. She loved to quilt, read, attend ladies class at church, country music concerts and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bobby W. Hawkins, her son Jimmie W. Yates and her second husband, Oscar Joe Banks. Billie is survived by her husband, Thomas Gary Johnson of Argyle, Texas; her two daughters, Melba Hergenrader of Argyle, Texas and Twyla Williams and husband, Joe of Flower Mound, Texas; her sister, Bettie Stout of De Kalb, Texas; five grandchildren, Darla Colvin Berg and husband, Chuck of Keller, Texas, Tammie Yates Erwin and husband, Lee of Texarkana, Arkansas, Chad Colvin and fiancé, Cassandra McCollum of Argyle, Texas, Shane Yates of De Kalb, Texas, Jason Coleman and wife, Sharla of Highland Village, Texas, 8 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and many more relatives and friends. Thanks so much to her Primary Caregivers: Gary, Melba, Chad, Cassandra, Jan Parish and Holy Savior Hospice staff that took such loving care of Billie and made it possible for her to live at home as that was her wish to be cared for by her family. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Woodmen Cemetery Pavilion in De Kalb, Texas with Gary Johnson and Robby Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, September 17, 2021 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. Memorials may be made to Lake Dallas Church of Christ, P.O. Box 340, Lake Dallas, TX 75065.
