BERTHELMER WILLIAMS

Berthelmer “Bert” Williams, 73, of Texarkana, Texas, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, in a local nursing home. <br />Mrs. Williams was born Feb. 9, 1936, in Texarkana, Ark. She was owner of Touch of Beauty Hair Salon, a licensed cosmetologist, a member of Naomi Chapter 57, Order of the Eastern Star and Haney Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Ashdown, Ark., where she was a deaconess. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lydia Williams. <br />Survivors include her husband, Prentice Williams of Texarkana; one son, Demarce Williams of Fort Belvior, Va.; one daughter, Vickie Waller of Texarkana; her mother, Lula Lewis of Texarkana; seven brothers, the Rev. Willie A. Lewis, Bennie Townsel, Jimmie Lewis and Willie G. Lewis of Texarkana, the Rev. Robert Lewis of Pomona, Calif., Dickey Lewis of Dallas and Charles Lewis of Richmond, Va.; six sisters, Bertha L. Walker and Carrie Sims of Los Angeles, Marie Johnson of Denver, Frances Trice of San Francisco, Eliza M. Woodside of Nash, Texas, and Esther Lewis of Little Rock; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Haney Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jesse Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Rhodes Cemetery under direction of Haynes Mortuary. <br />Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. <br />Online registration is at www.haynesmortuary.com. <br /> <br />
