JOHN SMITH

BOOKER, Texas—John Richard Smith, 73, of Darrouzett, Texas, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, in an Amarillo, Texas, hospital. <br />Mr. Smith was born April 1, 1935, in New Boston, Texas. He was a retired civil servant and a member of First Baptist Church, Darrouzett. <br />Survivors include his wife, Jerry McCrary Smith; one daughter, Kim Butler of Darrouzett; two sons, Scott Smith of Henderson, Nev., and Stephen Smith of Jackson Hole, Wyo.; two brothers, Fred Smith of Texarkana and Leonard Olds of Mount Pleasant, Texas; two sisters, Doris Thomas and Peggy Green; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services were March 9 at Darrouzett First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary McDonald officiating under direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Home. <br />Memorials may be made to Spring Hill Cemetery Association, c/o Kathy Copeland, 511 E.
