JOHNNIE TURNER

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas—Johnnie Mae Turner, 85, of Mount Pleasant died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in Mount Pleasant. <br />Mrs. Turner was born July 6, 1923, in Mount Pleasant. She was a retired elementary school teacher with Mount Pleasant ISD, former member of St. Paul AME Church, Mount Pleasant, and a member of Heroines of Jericho, Mount Pleasant-Titus County Retired School Personnel Association and Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.L. Turner Jr. <br />Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Verssie L. and Walter E. Ray of Council Bluff, Iowa, and Vickie M. and George L. Baker of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, David Floyd Baker of Pawtucket, R.I., Cicely Allums of Riverside, Calif., William Ray of Arlington, Texas, Pamela Bittle of Atlanta, Ga., and Maria Auletta of San Diego; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Kirthell Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Searcy Cemetery under direction of Tumey Mortuary. <br />The body may be viewed 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. <br />
