Bobby Dan Griffis passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at his home in De Kalb, Texas. He was 85. Bobby Dan was born September 25, 1936 in Red River County, Texas to Aylon Henry and Vivian Estelle Dalby Griffis. He retired Section Chief in the Secondary Items Division in Maintenance Directory after thirty five years with Red River Army Depot. Bobby Dan was a member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas Dalby Springs No. 684 where he earned his fifty year member award. He was member of De Kalb First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian and Aylon Griffis; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Jack Woodley; and one brother-in-law, Robert Hill. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Jo Woodley Griffis of De Kalb, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Fred Brinkley of De Kalb, Texas, Dana and William Blackstone of De Kalb, Texas, and Mary and Jesse Thrapp of Texarkana, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathy Griffis of De Kalb, Texas; one sister, Nelda Hill of Colorado City, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Dalby and Dena Griffis of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; seven grandchildren, Amanda Baird, and her husband, Todd of Avery, Texas, Amber Oehlke and her husband, Justin of Hearne, Texas, Tyler Thrapp of Ogden, Utah, Cody Dickens of De Kalb, Texas, Thomas Griffis of De Kalb, Texas, Kathryn Griffis of Dallas, Texas, and Bailey Freeman and her husband, Dylan of College Station, Texas; six great grandchildren, Reyna, Riata, and Rio Baird, Weston and Colton Oehlke, and Baker Freeman; and numerous other relatives and friends. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 2, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Amanda Stratton and Robby Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Dalby Springs Cemetery in Dalby Springs, Texas. Visitation will be held 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 2, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in De Kalb, Texas.
