Diane Elizabeth Sharpe Gill, age 53, passed away unexpectedly on April 12, 2022. Elizabeth, daughter of Diane Sharpe and the late Charles ”Bucky” Sharpe Jr., was born on June 21, 1968 in Texarkana, TX. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas where she was proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. While at college, Elizabeth met her husband, Rick Gill. The two married on July 7, 1990, and moved to Marion, Arkansas where they were blessed with two children, Jonathan and Meredith. Elizabeth loved the Lord and her Marion United Methodist Church family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, friend, and member of her community. In 2005, she founded the Brothers of DCA (Delta Christian Association), which aimed to help young men learn the value of serving their community and being upstanding men. For nearly 10 years in total, she enjoyed being a teacher in the Marion School District where she devoted her energy to being a champion and guiding light for her students. Elizabeth firmly believed that a person’s background, circumstances, or mistakes do not limit the possibilities of their future. Although she is no longer with us, Elizabeth will continue to impact the lives of students through the Elizabeth Gill Upstander Scholarship. Elizabeth enjoyed frequent trips to Grassy Lake, Breckenridge, and the beach, but just spending quality time with her family and loved ones was her favorite activity. She is survived by her husband of nearly 32 years, Rick Gill, mother Diane Sharpe, one son Jonathan and wife Ashton Gill, one daughter Meredith and husband Max Lemmons, one brother Charles and wife Kimberly Sharpe, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She also loved and was greatly loved by her dog, Zoey, and grand-dogs, Ginger, Luna, and Thor. Services for Elizabeth Diane Gill will be held in Marion, AR on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Marion United Methodist Church located at 81 Military Road, Marion AR 72364. Visitation will be from 9 to 11am with service immediately following at 11am at the church. Memorials can be made to the Marion School District (MSD) Foundation for the Elizabeth Gill Upstander Scholarship or to any other charity of one’s choice in Elizabeth’s name.
