Evelyn Louise McMillen Tefteller, 71, of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Sunday, April 24, 2022, in a local hospital. Mrs. Tefteller was born March 16, 1951, in Texarkana. She was a 1969 graduate of Liberty Eylau High School and after retiring from Arkansas Rehabilitation Services in 2006, she fulfilled her greatest passion of becoming a full time Mimi/Grammie. She was an avid crafter, talented painter, and loved to read. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Vernon McMillen, Sr. and Geneva McMillen, sister, Barbara Gholson, brother, Dean McMillen, and grandson, Cameron Tefteller. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Horace Tefteller of Texarkana, Arkansas; son and daughter-in-law Joey and Chrystal Tefteller of Texarkana, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and Shane Kirkland of Texarkana, Texas; one sister and brother-in law, Kay and DeWayne Jones of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Billy and Kris McMillen of Gassville, Arkansas and Rob and Karen McMillen of Texarkana, Texas; five grandchildren, Kellar and Londyn Tefteller, Kayla, Sydney, and Izzy Kirkland; and a number of other family and friends. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Canaan Baptist Church at 1002 Laurel Street in Texarkana, Arkansas with Pastor Freddie L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens at 1015 N. Kings Highway in Nash, Texas under the direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, April 29, 2022, at Chapelwood Funeral Home, Texarkana. The family would like to thank the Texarkana Texas Police Department, Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and St. Michael’s staff Max Norton, Odia Russette, and Abby Birchfield Sullivan for their amazing care in this difficult time.
