Jimmy Dale Brookshire of Avery, Texas passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 at a De Kalb, Texas care facility. He was 87. Jimmy was born March 31, 1935 in Avery, Texas to Oscar Vernard and Berta Braden Brookshire. He was a retired from the maintenance department at Red River Army Depot. Jimmy was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America, the New Boston Mason Lodge #69, the Scottish Rite, Hella Shrine Temple; where he received a 50 Year Member Award in all Masonic organizations. He was a 35 year member of New Boston chapter #700 of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of Avery Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, O.A. “Bob” Brookshire; one sister, Billie Jo Presley; and one granddaughter, Cherie Burleson. He is survived by his wife, Erma Nell Freeman Brookshire of Avery, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Rickey Burleson of Avery, Texas; one sister, Emma Jean Rhea of Texarkana, Texas; one grandson, Brian Burleson and his wife, Hannah of Alamagordo, New Mexico; three great grandchildren, Claire Burleson, Chloe Burleson, and Case Blackstone; and numerous other relatives and friends. Services will be 2:00 Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Avery Church of Christ with Buddy Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Avery Cemetery in Avery, Texas. Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, April 29, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
