Former Texarkana and Wake Village resident, Mary Anne Matthews Rodgers died on April 19, 2022 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the Baptist Village. She had lived in Texarkana and worked as a bank teller at both State First National Bank and Commercial National Bank. In 1977 she and her husband moved to Shreveport, Louisiana to open Mary’s Hallmark Shop. In 2000 they moved back to the area, living in Wake Village after a 14 year residency in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They were active members at FBC Moores Lane. She moved to Broken Arrow again in 2011 and resided until her death, where she was active at FBC Broken Arrow and the Oasis Sunday School class. She was born May 20, 1930 in Roseboro, Arkansas to Horace and Floy Matthews and was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Harold L. Rodgers Sr. and two brothers, Louis Matthews and Floyd Matthews. She is survived by a daughter Sheila Hayden, grandson Aaron Hayden, and granddaughter Aubree (and David) Karner, all of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; son Dr. H. Lynn Rodgers Jr and his wife Edna, granddaughters Lindsay (and Tyler) Boss, and Laurel (and Jacko) Villanueva, as well as three great grandchildren Patrick, David, and Adalind Boss, all of McKinney, Texas and Plano, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Watersprings Ranch in Texarkana at waterspringsranch.org.
