Brenda Joyce Bedgood Brown passed from this life on April 2, 2022, at her home in Atlanta, TX. Brenda was born in Houston, TX to Ella Ruth (Nelson) and Calvin L. Bedgood on July 22, 1961. Brenda grew up in Atlanta with her siblings, Jana, and Brent. She was a proud Rabbit who graduated from Atlanta High School in 1979. She graduated from the University of Texas in Tyler in 1986. She is preceded in death by her father, Calvin Bedgood, and cousins, Rosemary Mote, and Debra Lawrence. Brenda worked as a journalist, editor, and publisher for newspapers in Atlanta, Wimberly, Gladewater, Marshall, and Texarkana. She was an eloquent and speedy writer. She died before she could publish her own great American novel. Her passions were vast, but genealogy was her true love. She did extensive research on family and history. She loved history, with a focus on southern history. She was a proud Texan and celebrated all things Texas, especially Caddo Lake. Brenda had a gift for gardening native plants and flowers and was not hesitant to share a starter plant or bounty of veggies and greens with those who appreciated gardening too. She is survived by her mother, Ella Ruth Bedgood; sister, Jana Gwinn (Jim); brother, Brent Bedgood (Juli) and her favorite niece, Caylee Bedgood. She also leaves behind favorite cousins, Gina and Marc Mote, Marsha and Barry Stanton, Logan Mote, Austin Mote, Anna and Pete Parker and many more cousins too numerous to name. She cherished her fur babies; Dixie Nadine, Otis Ray, Lulu Rose, and Nola Pearl, and was worried about who would take them after she was gone. We are incredibly grateful for the friendship, help, and support provided by Michelle Havard, Donna Moulton, Donna Wilkins, Pam Steger, and Susan McMillian until the very end. A celebration of life will be Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Caddo Lake Community Center and lunch will be provided at Noon. Those wishing to memorialize Brenda may make contributions to Atlanta Animal League, P. O. Box 451, Atlanta, Texas 75551. Guest registry is available at www.hannerfuneralservice.com.
