Glenda Jean Thompson Rogers, age 74 of Port Alto, Texas, passed away on August 7, 2022. Glenda was born on August 27, 1947, in Texarkana, Texas, to the late Edward and Gladys Thompson, longtime former residents of Naples, Texas, and owner of Thompson’s Furniture Store in Naples. A resident of Austin, Texas, after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with a marketing degree, Glenda worked as a marketing executive. After retirement, she and her late husband, James H. Rogers Jr., built their retirement home on a bay in Port Alto, TX. James Rogers preceded Glenda in death three years ago. Glenda loved to travel, and she loved to cook. Her home was the place for many family Thanksgiving celebrations as well as other gatherings of family and friends. Being a gourmet cook, Glenda filled all holidays with special moments. Her bay pier also provided the perfect location for her children, the grandchildren, her nephew, and friends to fish while also viewing beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Glenda served as an example of grace, beauty, caring, and love. She loved her friends in Naples, in Austin, and at the bay and demonstrated that love by all the many things that she did for others. She took great care in making the bay house a special place of love, warmth, and joy. Glenda loved her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, her nephew and family, and all other relatives. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her and always remain in our hearts. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include her son James H. Rogers III and wife Ilene of Corona del Mar, California and their children Connor and Collin; son Clint Rogers and wife Emily of Austin, Texas and their children Elizabeth and Hunter; daughter Charlotte Pulitzer and husband Robert of Houston, Texas; sister Betty Thompson Alford of Claremont, California; and nephew Brent Harrison and wife Greta of Corona del Mar, California and their children, Heidi and Charles. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12th at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas with funeral services on Saturday, August 13th at 10:00 a.m. at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, with Reverend Michael Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Simms, Texas.
