REBA McKAMIE

Reba McKamie was greeted by the loving arms of Jesus this morning when she entered the gates of Heaven. Reba fought a long battle with cancer and no longer has any pain, suffering, or tears as she walks on streets of gold. Reba was born on February 27, 1938 to Mildred “Bill” and Jay W. Peyton. She was a sassy, kind, and loving wife, mom, nana, sister, aunt, and friend. She made our childhood fun with bike rides and swimming trips; our home was the chosen hang out for all of our friends in the neighborhood. Reba loved being outside. She enjoyed working in her yard, and loved animals of every kind — dogs of all sizes, in particular. After many years, Reba retired from Motion Industries and the Texarkana Gazette. Reba was preceded in death by her parents Mildred and Jay W. Peyton, her husband, Bill McKamie, her sister Jerry Riggins, and a grandson Christopher Easley. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Donna and Randall Morris, Debbie and Larry Brister, Wayne and Cheryl Liston; two step daughters Maleah Williamson and Mindy Morton; 11 grandchildren, Mandy, Scott, Laura, Wade, Colton, RaeAnn, Sancha, JW, Luke, Megan, and Madison; 13 great grandchildren, with the next one due Christmas Day; her sister Carolyn Williamson, a special niece Lynn Polk, nephew Mike Williamson, and a much adored dog named Zero. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 2 p.m. at Christ Methodist Church with Reverend Jay Stephen Simpson officiating. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Christ Methodist food pantry, Kindred Hospice, or your favorite animal rescue. Condolences may be left at www.eastfuneralhome.com.
