1924-2022 Dorris Mae Brower King, 97, met her Maker on January 29, 2022 at home in Sulphur, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Henry Franklin King, her parents, Barney Emsley and Pearl Lee Sisk Brower and one brother, Carl E. Brower. Left to beautiful memories, one daughter, Dorris Elaine Prichard of Sulphur LA, four grandchildren, Leigh Lesso and James Wilson of Denver CO, Amie Proctor and Sherrel Williams of Sulphur, LA, Frank Prichard of Texarkana, TX, Paul and Sabrina Prichard of Huntsville AL, five great grandchildren and a multitude of friends. Also surviving nieces and nephews, Paula and Roger Strahan of Port Charles, FL, and Jan Curry of Temple, TX. Dorris was born November 11, 1924 at Leary, TX. She attended school there until moving to Texarkana at an early age. She and Frank, stationed at Hereford, TX in the U.S.Army, married July 2, 1943. She returned to Texarkana and held a position with General Telephone Company from which she retired in 1974. A very active Republican lady, Dorris held many positions outside the workplace including Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Arkansas National Area Letter Carriers, Former member of Beta Sigma Phi, Life member of Communications Workers of America, Former member of and an officer of Elks Auxiliary 399 and 2771, former member of Eastern Star, charter member of Auxiliary of Texarkana Community Hospital, member of Senior Circle of Lake Area Medical Center, Lake Charles, LA. In 2003, Dorris moved to Pleasanton, TX to be with her daughter where she also became involved in several organizations, then moved to Sulphur, LA in 2009. Dorris, Granny – was known for her belief in Our Lord, her kindness, loyalty, humorous attitude, and true honesty. Her pastimes were reading, crossword puzzles and telephone calls. Dorris always reached out to others, letting them know they were on her mind and that she cared. There was never any hesitation if someone crossed her mind. Graveside Services will be held for the family and close friends in the Red Lick Cemetery presided by Texarkana Funeral Home.
