Elbert “Hat” Lynn Lewis of De Kalb, Texas passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital surrounded by his two daughters. He was 86. Hat was born June 9, 1935 in the Pulaski Community to Lentis and Floy Lewis. He was retired from Red River Army Depot and was a member of Hubbard Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Donald Lewis, Raymond Lewis, and Larry Lewis; four children, Gene Lewis, Becky Matthews, Ricky Lewis, and Barry Lewis; one grandson, Chad Matthews; and one great grandson, Curtis Kight. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Darrell McGregor of De Kalb, Texas and Kim Downs and Robert Lamon of Bismark, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Neala Lewis of De Kalb, Texas; the mother of his children, Maxine Hopper of De Kalb, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, Jessica Lewis, Josh Lewis, Riley Lewis, Colton Lewis, Christian Mitchell, Brianna Mitchell, Matt McGregor, Justin Kight, Eric McGregor, Heather Clark, Ariel McKinney, Ricky Lewis, Katie Mahurin, and Savannah Downs; eighteen great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with James B. Strain and Robby Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Hubbard Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas. Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
