Isabell “Liz” Salinas Rivas passed away Monday, February 7, 2022 at her home in De Kalb, Texas. She was 68. Liz was born October 13, 1953 in LaJunta, Colorado to Louie J. and Carmen Medina Salinas. She was a bilingual teacher for both the Texarkana Independent School District and the Mount Pleasant Independent School District. Liz was of the Catholic faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Phillips L. Salinas; one sister, Mary Andrea Salinas; and one son, Alexis Rivas. She is survived by her husband, Cruz Angel Rivas of De Kalb, Texas; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Joe Rivas of De Kalb, Texas and Felipe and Shana Rivas of De Kalb, Texas; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Frank Salinas of Scott City, Kansas and Joe and Pauline Salinas of Tom, Oklahoma; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Juanita Phythian Cisneros of Sanford, Colorado and Carmen and Theodore Salinas Shavers of De Kalb, Texas; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at St. Mary of the Cenacle Catholic Church in New Boston, Texas with Father William Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Garland Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas. Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 11, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
