Hubert L.D. Coleman of De Kalb, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022. L.D. was born February 8, 1931 in Mountainburg, Arkansas to Andrew Sexton and Novia Lucinda Coleman. He moved to Fayetteville as a young boy and attended schools there. At age 16, he left home to take a job as an Electrician and Lineman with the Killorn Electric Company of Appleton, Wisconsin. He also served honorably, and received a Bronze Star, for outstanding service in the United States Armed Forces. Opportunity came for him to move to Texas and accept a job at the Red River Army Depot, where he retired after 30 years. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church in Simms, Texas where he served and enjoyed playing his guitar in the Music Ministry there. You could also find him playing music for entertainment to the residents at the nursing homes in the area. This proved to be a very rewarding ministry for him. He was preceded in death by his parents; previous wife of thirty nine years, Ila Marie Coleman; two sisters, Jean Huggins and Margaret Prichard. He is survived by his wife of thirty two years, Doris Tucker Henry Coleman of De Kalb, Texas; one son Larry Duane Coleman of New Boston, Texas; two step children, Debbie Henry Boaen of Whitewright, Texas and Jerry Douglas “Skip” Henry and his wife, Thersa of De Kalb, Texas; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Services will be 2:30 P.M. Friday, February 18, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Justin King officiating. Interment will follow at Wards Creek Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas. Visitation will be held 1:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. Friday, February 18, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
