FRANK MATTHEWS JR.

Frank Ivan Matthews Jr., age 83, of Chitina, AK., passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022. Frank was born April 11, 1938 in Texarkana, AR. and was a graduate from Arkansas High School. He retired from Red River Army Depot and was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. Frank was a pilot and worked as a professional fishing guide and cook in Prudhoe Bay, Valdez, AK. during the historic oil spill. HIs great passion was fishing in the Copper River for the famous Sockeye Red Salmon. He was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan and a wonderful brother, a loving uncle and a true friend. Preceded in death by his parents Frank I. Matthews, Sr. and Effie Baldwin Matthews; brothers Ray Matthews, Charles Matthews, Robert (Bob) Matthews, Jimmy Matthews and Gary Matthews. Sisters Marjorie Colbey Morris, Lois Ryan, Joan Terry and Joyce Parsons. He is survived by his brother Danny Matthews of Henderson, NV.; plus a vast number of nieces and nephews and special loved ones. Graveside funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Wallace Edgar officiating. Friends and family may come and view and sign the family register Friday.
