Eileen Haynes Collins passed away surrounded by family in her home on January 15, 2022 at the age of 72. She was born July 20, 1949 to Horace and Lois Glass Haynes. Eileen was a lifelong resident of Bloomburg, Texas and member of Bloomburg First Baptist Church. Eileen graduated from Bloomburg High School in 1967, obtained a Masters in Education from East Texas State University and a Masters of Communication Disorders from Louisiana State University Medical Center. She retired from Caddo Parish Schools after serving for 26 years, as a teacher of kindergarten and first grade and later as a Speech Therapist. Beyond retirement, she continued Speech Therapy work through Cass County Shared Services. Throughout her life, she served as the pianist/organist at her church; cumulatively for over 52 years. Eileen had a passion for sharing God’s love through the children’s and music ministries at Bloomburg First Baptist. She was heavily involved in Keep Texas Beautiful and organized and presided over two Conservative Republican Women’s Clubs. She also served as the Chair of the Republican Party of Cass County. Eileen excelled in this role for more than 10 years, continuing to serve even through her illness. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Collins, and three children; Jeffrey Collins and wife Samira of San Diego, CA, Mitchell Collins and wife Lauri of Longview, TX, and Robin and husband Jim Russell of Celina, TX. She leaves 8 grandchildren; Jacob Collins of Houston, TX, Lindsay Armstrong of Haslet, TX, Christian Collins of Tyler, TX, Sydney Collins of Little Rock, AR, Gracie Collins and Carter Collins of Longview, TX, and Avery Russell and Emory Russell of Celina, TX. A strong faith in the Lord led Eileen to live out her convictions in marriage, family, friendships, and service to her community. Visitation will be at Hanner Funeral Home on January 19, 2022 between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on January 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Bloomburg First Baptist Church followed by graveside services and burial at the Smyrna Cemetery.
