Mary (Meg) Elizabeth Glazener Shelton, 78, of New Boston, Texas, died Tuesday, January 25th, 2022. Mrs. Shelton was born March 11, 1943, in Houston, Texas. She attended East Texas State University at Commerce where she met Ernest Edward Shelton, Jr. They were married February 2, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. In the fall of 1963 they moved to Logan, Utah where they resided for the next five years. After a brief stint in Austin, Texas, they moved to New Boston, Texas. She spent over 12 years working at New Boston Junior High School as administrative assistant to the principal positively impacting the lives of the many young people that were fortunate enough to roam those halls during her tenure. She also worked at Red River Army Depot for thirty years, most recently in payroll administration.Meg was a faithful member of the New Boston Church of Christ for over fifty years. Her greatest joy when her girls were growing up was welcoming the youth group into her home and making sure everyone knew they were valued and appreciated. If you knew her, you remember her wide open smile, her encouraging words and hugs, and her joyful participation in the fun and games. She also taught the Young Ladies’ Class for many years sharing the love of Jesus, as well as serving as a youth counselor at Mountain Fork Christian Camp. Her legacy will live on for generations. One of Meg’s defining characteristics was generosity. She shared her time, treasure, and talent with those she loved dearly as well as those she might have just met. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Travis and Jessie Wells Orr Glazener; parents-in-law, Ernest Edward Shelton, Sr. and Juanita Irene Grider Shelton; and brother-in-law Stephen Pedigo. Mary Elizabeth Glazener is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Ernest Edward Shelton, Jr.; three daughters, Elizabeth Wicker (Steven), Marie Freeman (Lindsey), and Cheryl Schwiethale (Jon); sister, Susan Glazener Pedigo; sister-in-law, Sylvia Williams (James); brother-in-law, Dan Shelton (Kay); grandchildren, Karly Wicker, JD Schwiethale, Trevor Schwiethale, and Carson Schwiethale; nieces and nephews, Thomas Pedigo (Susanne), Russell Pedigo (Brandy), Kimberly Ball (Kevin), Wendy Preston (Bill), Shawn Shelton (Melani), Darren Williams (Casey), Darla Black (Billy), and Brett Shelton (Kristen); and numerous great nieces and nephews. Services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 29, 2022 at New Boston Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Pulaski Cemetery in the family plot. Visitation will be held 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 29, 2022 at New Boston Church of Christ. Memorials may be made to New Boston Church of Christ, 610 N.
