Abigail McLeod Crosby left this world unexpectedly on July 21, 2022 in Bivins, Texas. Born in Bogota, Colombia on September 25, 1982, she came home to her forever parents John and Linda on December 19, 1982. Abigail grew up in Newton, Massachusetts. She was baptized at Trinity Church, Copley Square, Boston, MA, a church she loved dearly. She attended Newton Public Schools. After high school, she graduated Dean College and Regis College School of Nursing in association with Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Abigail was thrilled to become a registered nurse. Abigail took control of her life very early. In Kindergarten, she shortened her name to Abby and scheduled playdates by phone. She was funny, outgoing and vivacious; she could also be introverted and introspective. Abby was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. She had many close friends at NCMC in Vivian, Louisiana and Willis Knighton Hospital in Shreveport, LA. She was a dedicated, compassionate nurse who loved her elderly patients, especially. A devoted lifelong animal lover, Abby’s cats and dogs were her extended family. As a toddler she tried to feed cat food to a stuffed animal cat. Abby will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, belly laughs and caring personality. In addition to her parents, Abby is survived by aunts, uncles and cousins. She was especially close to her cousin Margaret Thomas and lifelong friend Sarah Drazen. Abby was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, J.B. and Winnie Walker McLeod and her paternal grandmother Bertha Thompson Crosby. A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 29 at 10:00 am, at Hanner Funeral Service, located at 103 West Main Street in Atlanta, Texas. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service. Interment will be in Huffines Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Texarkana Animal League, 5820 Richmond Road, Texarkana, Texas 75503 or to Wide Horizons for Children, 391 Totten Pond Road, Waltham, MA 02451.
