Jo Ann (Christensen) Hickson

(July 22, 1943 – February 21, 2022) Jo Ann (Christensen) Hickson 78, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX from COVID-19 related complications. Jo Ann was born July 22, 1943 in Topeka, KS and resided in and around Texarkana most of her life. She attended St. Edwards Catholic School where she was Valedictorian of the 1961 graduating class. After graduation, she joined the U.S. Air Force and got married. She received an honorable discharge when pregnant with her first child. Jo Ann worked hard all her life and AutoZone was where she found her niche in the work force. She retired as store manager in 2008. Jo Ann enjoyed fishing and hunting with her husband Doyle and you could always find her reading a good book. In 2016, Jo Ann moved to Brownwood, TX where she lived until her passing. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, James and Vivian Christensen, her infant daughter Sheila Renee Richardson and her brothers Patrick Christensen and Richard Christensen. Jo Ann is survived by her husband of thirty years, Doyle Hickson, her two sons and daughter-in-law Cullan Patrick and Dustin Patrick and wife Mary, two grandsons Brendan and Dominick Patrick, sister and brother-in-law Tina Nichols Fernandez and husband James, sister-in-law Kathryn Christensen and number of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 25th at 11:00 A.M., immediately followed by a Memorial Mass service at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 407 Beech Street, Texarkana, AR 71854.
