Mary Joyce Burton Spradlin, 60, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022, in Ft. Worth, Texas, after a lengthy illness. She was born January 11, 1962, in Newport, Arkansas, to parents, Lloyd Mitchell Burton and Vivian L. Simmons Burton. She was raised on the family farm in Swifton, Arkansas, and was a 1980 graduate of Swifton High School. Mary was a talented pianist and vocalist and was known for her beautiful soprano voice. She received her Associates degree in music from Williams Baptist College and her Bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from Arkansas State University. She directed church choirs in many churches through the years, both adult and youth, and especially enjoyed working in the children’s ministry. She was a passionate cook and could often be found in the kitchen trying new recipes, using her family as official taste testers. Rice Burton; maternal grandparents, Christopher C. Simmons, II and Emma L. Hopkins Simmons, and two brothers-in-law, William C. Herring and Bruce Berry.
