William Lydle “Bill” Collom Jr. 76, of Atlanta, Texas passed away peacefully on February 15, 2022. He was born to parents William Lydle “Punch” and Ruth Collom on September 12, 1945, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Bill graduated from Atlanta High School and received a degree in business from Stephen F. Austin. Bill is survived by his son, Chad Collom and partner Steve Kemble of Dallas, Texas; brother, Jim Collom and wife JoAnn Collom of Bivins, Texas; niece, Rebecca Carver of Thauya, Washington; nephew, John Adcock of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, nephew, Joe Richardson and wife Keri Richardson of Atlanta, Texas, niece, Lyn Jones and husband Carl Jones of Glenwood, Arkansas; cousins, great nieces and nephews, and many life-long friends. Bill was preceded in death by parents Punch and Ruth Collom; sister, Linda Adcock and husband Wayne Adcock; and nephew, Mark Adcock. Bill’s life was a book with many diverse chapters. He was known for his love of football. Being an All-District football player for Atlanta High School that earned him scholarship offers from multiple universities across the country. He ultimately chose his beloved Longhorns at The University of Texas at Austin. He was a naturally talented artist, drawing illustrations for school publications, painting, and woodworking and was recognized for the beautiful bird houses he designed and sold. He was a pilot, lover of horses, avid golfer, guitar player, and a trained firefighter. A service will be held March 11, 2022, at 2 p.m. in the Hanner Funeral Chapel, 103 West Main Street, Atlanta, Texas.
