Melba Jean Sams, age 78, of Doddridge, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at her residence surrounded by family. Melba was born February 16, 1944, to Lloyd and Aurelia Scott. She was retired from Henson-Kickernick and was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. She loved cooking for her family, sewing; was an avid gardener, and enjoyed working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Sams; her son, Terry Sams; her siblings, Frances Ford, Lawrence Scott, Edna Hensley, Joyce Ann Scott, Geraldine Brent, Floyd Scott, James Irving Scott, James Earl Scott; and her parents. She is survived by her son, David Sams and wife Karen of Doddridge, Arkansas; daughters, Robin Jones and husband Gareth of Doddridge, Arkansas, Teresa D’Amore and husband Mike Chambers of Springfield, Tennessee; brother, Boyd Scott of Syracuse, New York; sisters, Helen Hornyak and husband Paul of Alabaster, Alabama, Linda Wilder and husband Mike of Montevallo, Alabama, Brenda Johns and husband David of Montevallo, Alabama; grandchildren, Jessica Ferrante and husband Charlie, Evan Jones, Sawyer Sams, Graham Sams, Miller Escarre; and a number of other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Olive Branch Methodist Church, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Bro. Walter Burnett officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, March 19, 2022, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service. Interment will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Guest Registry is available at www.hannerfuneralservice.com.
