Dean McDuff, age 81, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 19, 2022 in a local hospital. He was born September 20, 1940 in Atlanta, Texas to Reuben Ervin and Mable Dean McDuff. Dean was a member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta and owned and operated Dean’s Electrical Service for over 38 years. He was Vice Mayor of Atlanta and one of the longest serving civic leaders on record. Dean served over two decades as Ward 4 City Councilman, Director on the Atlanta City Development Corporation and member of the Atlanta Tourism Board. He was heavily involved in many municipal improvement projects including the development of the Sportsplex Park and the redevelopment of the historic downtown district. Dean’s leadership, opinion and experience will be missed at City Hall. He is preceded in death by his parents. Dean is survived by his wife, Andrea McDuff of Atlanta, Texas; three sons, Steve McDuff and wife Danna of Atlanta, Texas, Chris McDuff of Birmingham, Alabama, Scott Pounds and wife Tracy of Fort Worth, Texas; three daughters, Dena Moyers and husband Mike of Queen City, Texas, Lori Moore and husband B.J. of Atlanta, Texas, Leigh Anne Sherman of New Milford, Connecticut; one brother, Ray McDuff of Queen City, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Atlanta, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service, with Bro. Wes Mills and Bro. Dale Perkins officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, March 21, 2022 at Hanner Funeral Service. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
