Joe Lawrence Harvey was born October 6, 1947, to Burlee Harvey and Annie Lee Casteel Harvey. Joe was the ninth child of ten born to this union. Joe confessed at an early age his belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized at Floyd Valley Baptist Church in Marietta, Texas. Joe attended Floyd Valley Elementary School in Marietta, Texas for grades first through third. During the Summer of 1956 the family moved to Texarkana, Texas where he attended New Town Elementary School. He graduated from Dunbar High School in 1965. After High School Joe attended Prairie View A & M University where he met his wife, Faye Jewel Vorise and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1969. Upon graduation, Joe was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant Officer in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. When he completed his tour of duty, he was honorably discharged in 1971. Joe departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son- Keith Harvey, three sisters: Peggy Harvey Brown, Vera Dell Harvey Wilcox and Mary Lou Harvey Holloway: one brother Waldo Harvey, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Joseph Harvey of Tacoma, Washington: one daughter, Ann-Marie Harvey of Los Angeles, California: one granddaughter, Adea Marie Harvey of Bellingham, Washington: three sisters: Mordine Harvey Caston of Westchester, Illinois, Toncie (Lonnie) Booker of Texarkana, Texas, Mollie Harvey of Broadview, Illinois: two brothers: B.H. Harvey of Marietta, Texas, Alvin (Debra) Harvey of Westchester, Illinois. Multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Special friends; Jacqueline Rachal and Marlena Salter. Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Haynes Mortuary. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
