David ‘Dave’ Cole, aged 73 years, passed away at his home with family by his side on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Dave was born September 19, 1948, the son of Alvin and LaFay Cole of San Diego, California. Dave is survived by his wife, Lou Ann Mixon Cole, daughters, Christy Cole (Texarkana TX), Kimberly Lanier and husband Matthew (Texarkana TX), Erica Cole (Liberty Hill TX), Carissa Gray (Texarkana TX), Carmen Cross and husband Jerod (Monroe, LA), sister, Martha Horton and husband Buddy (Charlottesville, VA), and cherished grandchildren, Josh Lanier, Emma Lanier, Lexi Heibel, Nora Johnson, Hannah Cross, and Ella Cross, many other relatives and a host of wonderful friends. Family came first and foremost in Dave’s life. Since childhood he has enjoyed collecting and assembling model cars, airplanes, fire trucks, etc. He loved traveling to air shows and classic car shows. Dave was the proud owner of a 1967 GTO. He was a prankster and enjoyed making people laugh. Dave served proudly in the United States Army as a pilot and was a well decorated Chief Warrant Officer (CW4) when he retired. He flew medevac Hueys in service unit Dustoff (Dust 69) in Vietnam and was a longtime member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association (VHPA). In his civilian life, Dave was a private King Air pilot where he travelled the United States. His company, MidSouth Aviation, provided Little Rock Police Department with its first helicopter services. David, Dave, Dad, Papa Cole, Poppa, we were very lucky to have you in our lives. You will be missed dearly. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the White Family Chapel in Idabel, OK. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at the Denison Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 pm prior to the start of the funeral service.
