McNeal Dickerson, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022 at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana. He was blessed with a beautiful life for 85 years and 4 months. He was born on December 25, 1936 in Little River County, Arkansas to Benjamin Franklin and Iva Oglesby Dickerson. He was a graduate of Winthrop High School in Winthrop, AR, a retired millwright with Ash Grove Cement Company in Foreman, Arkansas, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Horatio. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Lena Ruth Brewer Dickerson, one son, Keith Dickerson of Horatio, AR; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Clements (Mark) of Horatio, AR; two granddaughters, Allison Clements Burton (Aaron) of Sulphur Springs, TX and Natalie Clements of Fayetteville, AR; two great grandsons, Phoenix Burton and Kye Phillips, one brother-in-law and friend, Hershel Ray Brewer, Horatio, AR; one sister-in-law, Pamela Brewer Burnham, Avon Park, FL; two special nephews, Jared Adcock of Monroe, GA and Geoff Berry of Rusk, TX, one special niece, Casey Adcock Morris, Winter Garden, FL., and a number of nieces and nephews and his best friends Raymond Smith and Jude Milam of Foreman, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Marva Jo Dickerson Berry, Elza Dickerson Broomfield, Etna Dickerson and Arley Dickerson; and brothers, Arthur and Jack Dickerson. He loved the Dallas Cowboys even when they were not very lovable which was most seasons. He definitely would be considered a super fan. He loved Westerns, Gunsmoke and John Wayne. He has hundreds of VHS tapes (yes…. VHS tapes) of recorded Westerns with which he would not part. After retiring he started vegetable gardening and received immense joy from giving away his crops to friends and neighbors, anyone willing to take a sack. He was a master craftsman and could build or repair about anything. He loved making canes which he liked to refer to as “walking sticks” and would give them away to those in need. He did not know at the time that he would come to be dependent on one to get around. Most of all he loved his family and would spend as long as anyone would listen talking about his great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. A Memorial service for Mr. Dickerson will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Joe Walden officiating. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home. You may leave a condolence online at www.wilkersonfuneralhomes.com.
