Garon “Stumpy” Dupree, age 20, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 9, 2022 from injuries received in a car accident. He was born March 15, 2002 in Texarkana, Texas to Bobby Dean and Heidi Dupree. Stumpy was a member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta, an Eagle Scout with Troop 47 and a student at East Texas Baptist University. He was very accomplished at such a young age and was already a certified auto body technician, a certified welder and an electrical and instrumentation tech from Texarkana College. Garon was an avid bass fisherman and won angler of the year in 2020. He was about to accomplish his dream of getting his degree in criminal justice and psychology. Garon had a contagious sense of humor that made everyone around him laugh. No one could be in a bad mood around him. He loved serving the Lord at camps and mission work. He had an infectious smile that could light up any room and he loved telling his “stories”. Stumpy is preceded in death by his grandfather, Keith Shelton and his uncle, Anthony “Tony” Dupree. He is survived by his parents, Bobby Dean and Heidi Dupree of Bivins, Texas; two brothers, Logan Dupree and wife Shaylee of Kildare, Texas, Joshua and wife Courtney of Hooks, Texas; grandmother, Marie Shelton of Bivins, Texas; grandparents, Ronnie and Angie Pippen of Maud, Texas; and a host of cousins and other family members and friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 13, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Atlanta, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service, with Bro. Wes Mills officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Hanner Funeral Service. Interment will be in Center Hill Cemetery. Guest registry is available at www.hannerfuneralservice.com.
