Carolyn Naomi Huett Huckabee, 85, of Texarkana, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this earth and entered through the beautiful gates of heaven on Monday, October 24, 2022. Her loving children were with her in her home when she passed away. Carolyn was born to Hamp and Pearl Huett on October, 31, 1936, in Hope, Arkansas. She graduated from Hope High School in May of 1955, and married the love of her life, Donsald Huckabee, on June 12, 1955. For the first few years, they made their home in Hope, but later moved to Texarkana, where she lived out the remainder of her life and raised her four children. She was a longtime member of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Texarkana, Arkansas. For many years, Carolyn’s job was working at home, taking care of her family. She was happiest when she was doing things for others, especially her children. Her family woke up to her homemade biscuits every morning, without fail. She was an amazing cook and loved sharing her wonderful food. She was known for having the best dressing at the holidays, but nothing could compare to her chocolate pie. If you were ever able to have a piece of her pie, you would never want any other chocolate pie. One of her greatest passions was quilting. She spent many hours piecing close to 200 quilts. She shared these with her children and grandchildren each Christmas and also gave them to other special people in her life. For many years she was an avid reader, reading every Danielle Steel book written and reading a through a different version of the Bible every year. After her children were all in school, Carolyn decided she was ready for a job outside of the home. She became an Avon representative because she loved meeting people and it allowed her the flexibility she desired so she could still be there for her family. In just a few short months, she took her first plane ride to Kansas City and interviewed for a District Manager’s position with Avon. She did not think she would have a chance at securing the job because she had no formal education past high school. Not surprisingly, she got the job and her long and successful career began. During her 20 plus years with Avon, she not only served as a District Sales Manager, but also as a Regional Trainer. She received many accolades during her career and was awarded trips to Greece, Canada, and New York, along with many prizes and bonuses, all because of her hard work and dedication. Carolyn and Donsald had four children and they were her pride and joy. Nothing made her happier than doing for them. She loved them fiercely, served as an incredible example of perseverance and determination, taught them to be honest hard-workers, and to love their families as she loved hers. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Donsald Huckabee, a son, Gary Huckabee, and a very special daughter-in-law, Vicki Stearn Huckabee. A sister, Frances Huett Reed, and brother, Raymond Huett, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Jerry Huckabee and Lisa, daughter, Sandra Stone and Rex, and son Paul, all of Texarkana, Arkansas. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Matthew Huckabee and Courtney, of Texarkana, Texas, Dayna Huckabee of Conway, Arkansas, Johnathan Stone and Endsley, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Autumn Huckabee and Olivia Huckabee of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Sophie Huckabee, of Cumming, Georgia. Carolyn also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: William David Huckabee and Peyton Grace Rhinehart, both of Texarkana, and John Cannon Stone and Hudson Riley Stone of North Little Rock, Arkansas. A loving sister, JoAnn Huett Byers, of Midlothian, Texas, also survives Carolyn, among several special nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends. The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to mother’s caregiver for the last 14 months, Dianne Moody. The love and care she extended to our mother will always be appreciated and never forgotten. We would also like to thank Hospice of Texarkana for their guidance and support as we navigated these last few months. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Texarkana, 2407 Galleria Oaks Drive, Texarkana, Texas, 75503. Visitation will be Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 5:30-7:30 pm, at East Funeral Home Downtown. Services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, October 28, 2022, at East Funeral Home Downtown, officiated by Bro. David Holder. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens, Texarkana, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be: Jerry Huckabee, Paul Huckabee, Matthew Huckabee, William Huckabee, Rex Stone and Johnathan Stone. Carolyn’s favorite color was purple. If you are able to attend her service, please honor her by wearing purple. The family will be at the home of Sandra and Rex Stone, 5620 Old Blackman Ferry Road, Texarkana, Arkansas.
