KENNETH STRICKLAND

Kenneth Carrol Strickland, age 78, and lifelong resident of Maud, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, in Texarkana, Texas. He was born on November 17, 1943, in Orange, Texas, to Earl and Irene Strickland and he was one of nine children. When Kenneth was a teenager, the Strickland family moved to Redwater, Texas where Kenneth excelled in sports. In 1961, Kenneth graduated from Redwater High School. He later went on to attend Texarkana College and begin working at Red River Army Depot not long after that. For many years, Kenneth was a mechanic and a farmer. He, along with his father and brother, raised livestock. In 2004, Kenneth was baptized. He was a member of Maud Church of Christ – Maud, Texas and attended services at Highland Church of Christ – Texarkana, Arkansas. Kenneth had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a wonderful and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joyce Roberts; and his brother, John Strickland. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of forty-four years, Mary Lou Strickland; his son, Brian Strickland; his stepchildren, Jeff Bell, Steve Bell, Kim East; his grandchildren, Carrie-Francis Dennis, Rion Dennis, William Strickland, Seth Strickland, Rian Strickland, Maggie Strickland, Matthew Bell; his siblings, Tommy Strickland, David Strickland, Tim Strickland, Donna Patterson, Sara Lee, Mary Ledbetter; and a number of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Texarkana Funeral Home – Texas with Rev. Chris Hooten officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM the day before the service. Interment will be in Center Ridge Cemetery – Maud, Texas under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home – Texas.
