Sidney Westmoreland

Sidney “Sid” Anthony Westmoreland of Texarkana, Texas, departed his earthly body to be with his Lord and Savior on September 8, 2022. Sidney was born March 6, 1964 in Atlanta, Texas. He graduated top of his class from Texas Senior High School of Texarkana, Texas in 1982. He was involved with Agriculture, Dixie Youth and American Legion Baseball. He was an avid baseball player his whole life. After graduation, he had planned to go to college to attend Veterinarian school and play college baseball. Unfortunately, those dreams were shattered when he was playing a Texas State Playoff Game the night of July 19, 1982. Sid suffered a severe head injury the night before he was to pitch the championship game. Although, a major life changing event, Sid enjoyed life, outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting with his brother-in-law, Ronnie. He loved his family and all the get-togethers. Sid was well known to many and a friend to all. He was smart, kind and an unselfish soul that will be missed by all that knew him. Sid met and spent the most of his adult life (almost 30 yrs) with the love of his life, Jerrie Lewis, whom cared for Sid. Always putting him and his needs 1st in her life. Sid was preceded in death by one nephew Matthew; Grandparents: Lester and Glada Westmoreland of Bloomburg, Texas; Frances Duke Orea of Shreveport, Louisiana; and Gerald Edward Duke also of Shreveport, Louisiana. Sid is survived by his life-mate, Jerrie Lewis of Texarkana, Texas; Parents, Sidney W. & Linda Westmoreland of Redwater, Texas; sister and brother-in-law: Keenya & Ronnie Bell of Atlanta, Texas; brothers: Stanley Jason Westmoreland, Patrick Todd Westmoreland; brother-in-law, Aaron “Doodle” Dickerson; nephews, Zachary Hon, Tymber Westmoreland; nieces/spouses: Keeley Bell (Sarah); Kaitlyn Bell Humphrey (Cody); Shea Westmoreland Yelvington (Tyler); Grandson, Stephen Lee; eight great nieces/nephews; his dog Max; and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, at Hanner Funeral Service. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 13, 2022, in the Hanner Funeral Chapel with Charles Hale officiating. Interment to follow service at New Hope Cemetery, Bloomburg, Texas.
