Jan Nix, 69, of Texarkana, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 19th, at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband of forty-one years, Don Nix. Her parents, Jim and Fern McCoy, and her in-laws, Herbert and Ann Nix. Jan is survived by her children and their spouses, Brandi and Paul Murdock of McLeod, Texas, and Jessica and Brandon Jeane of Texarkana, Arkansas. Her grandchildren, Elijah, Riley, Silas, Reagan, Ava, and a special addition Bryce Evans. Jan was born July 16, 1953, in Tennessee and was the oldest of three McCoy children. She was raised in Clinton, Mississippi, and following high school, she joined the United States Army and found the love of her life while serving as a Military Police Officer. They were married in 1976, made Texarkana, Arkansas, their home, and where they raised their daughters. Jan never let a day pass that she didn’t tell someone about the love of Christ. She loved the Lord and proclaimed His goodness up until her last breath. Jan loved being the hands and feet of Jesus wherever she was. Whether it was working at the Miller County or Four States Fair, she used that as an outreach opportunity. Jan was an active member of Cross Creek Cowboy Church of Atlanta, Texas. She helped pioneer the Sisters in Scripture Bible study for widows, loved on all the babies, fed the homeless, cared for those in need, and fervently prayed for the lost. A celebration of life will be held at Cross Creek Cowboy Church on Wednesday, March 22nd, at 2 pm with Brother Paul Murdock officiating. The family would like to thank Dr. Chatt Malladi and the staff at UT Southwestern in Dallas for all the love and compassion shown to Nana during her time there. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Jan’s honor to be made to the youth departments of either Beech Street First Baptist Church of Texarkana, Arkansas, or Cross Creek Cowboy Church of Atlanta, Texas.
