CAROLE SUE BERRY

In the early morning of March 23rd, 2023, Carole Berry, after 12 years of battling Alzheimer’s and Dementia, went home to the Lord. Carole was born in Corpus Christie, Texas, on July 13, 1945, the first child of Paul and Mary Walker. Carole attended the Columbus College of Art and Design. On July 26th, 1966, she married Ray Berry and had three children. During their married life, they lived in many parts of the United States but ultimately settled in East Texas. Carole was a talented artist in watercolor, acrylic, and oils. She freelanced in signage, calligraphy, design, and murals. She loved teaching and sharing her gift with others. Her art embodied her love of nature. A devoted Catholic, Carole worked as a eucharistic minister at church and as an extraordinary minister to the sick and shut-in. She attended Little Rock Cursillo and participated in and supported ACTS retreats. Carole is survived by her husband Ray; children Lisa Marie Maxson (John), Vanessa Rogers (Scott), and Drew Berry (Sandy), Brother in Law Larry Lord; his children Melissa and Paul Lord; her sister Ellen Ludwig; brother Tom and her eight grandchildren (Amanda, Kasey, Lindsey, Ian, Derrick, Sydney, Isabelle, Sofia) and four great-grandchildren (MaKenna, Madison, Hadrian, and Adaline). She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Kathy Lord. Memorial services will be held at Saint Catherine of Siena, Atlanta, Texas, at 1:00 Saturday, April 1st, with interment to follow at Sacred Heart/Holy Cross Cemetery in Texarkana, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
