Stormy weather causes rescheduling of games across Northeast Texas

Heavy rains postponed playoff baseball and softball games throughout Northeast Texas on Friday.

A squall line chased the second game of the DeKalb-Queen City best-of-three Class 3A bi-district playoff series from Pine Tree High in Longview to Beckville.

There, with the score tied at 2 in the bottom of the first and DeKalb's Kassidy Barrett at bat, the game was suspended because of heavy rains and lightning.

The teams will attempt to locate a field today on which to resume the game. If they cannot finish, DeKalb will advance on the strength of a 9-7 win Thursday at Liberty-Eylau's H.E. Markham park.

A district 15-5A baseball game between Mount Pleasant and Texas High scheduled for Friday was moved to today at 3 p.m. Texas High hosts.

A play-in game between Liberty-Eylau and Pittsburg, who tied for fourth in District 15-4A baseball, is at 1 p.m. today in Lindale.

A Hooks-Mount Vernon softball game was postponed until 7 p.m. today in Harleton. Hooks, 24-3 and ranked No. 23 in the Class 3A poll, leads that series after a 3-1 win Thursday.

Hughes Springs plays New Boston in softball at 6 p.m. tonight at Northeast Texas Community College. Hughes Springs won the opener, 7-4.
