The Redwater Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a fundraiser today.
Chief Alton Wheat said the firefighters are offering pet vaccinations from 8 a.m. to noon at the firehouse, located on Shady Pines Road directly behind Shady Pines RV Park on U.S. Highway 67 just east of Redwater.
Prices will range from $8 to $15 depending on the particular vaccination each dog or cat receives.
"And an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social will be offered in the afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.," Lorie Hewett, public relations coordinator, said.
Homemade ice cream will be available, along with a bounce house and a Balloon Pop game where the children can win prizes.
Prices were not determined at press time but should be affordable for most
families.
This is a great opportunity to receive special care for pets and let children see the fire engines, play in the bounce house and enjoy some delicious homemade ice cream on a hot summer's day-all while supporting local volunteer firefighters.
On Oct. 1, Redwater VFD is planning a chili cook-off. More information will be available closer to the event.
