Sisters of the Gospel celebrate 15 years with special services

The Sisters of the Gospel will celebrate 15 years of ministry with special services at 6 p.m. today and 3 p.m. Sunday at Lonoke Baptist Church.

Sisters of the Gospel said the group was established to praise and worship God and give them a chance to share their testimony of God's grace and mercy. The women have performed at many area churches and events.

Member Vickie Henry's dream and vision, along with encouragement from the Rev. C.K. Yarber, was of a group of Christian women praising and worshiping God in songs sung a capella.

She called on some friends who were not ashamed to testify and witness for God to join her.

They have continued their ministry for 15 years. They have shared their message of hope for the broken spirit and healing for the hurting soul through their music and ministries and give all the glory to God.

"God has brought us safely down through the years. Singing prayers unto him is just our way of saying thank you," said group member Vicki Waller. Other members are Pat Hannah, Angela Holmes and Rosie Johnson.

The Rev. Arthur Hill Sr. will host the event, themed "Come and Help Us Lift Up the Name of Jesus."

The church is at 1841 Lonoke Ave., Texarkana, Ark.
