Local Albertsons get new look

Albertsons' three Texarkana locations had a $6 million upgrade that was completed late last year.

Liberty-Eylau and Pleasant Grove high schools' marching bands rocked the stores, unveiling the three remodeled stores.

The remodeling was done to accommodate the customers, company officials said.

In the remodel, the grocery department added 500 items and introduced a new line of signature brand items.

Construction on the stores took three months. The expansion includes:

  • Chef-inspired signature soups, ready-to-go meals, specialty cheeses, ready-to-east salads were added to the service deli.
  • New signature bagels, 13 varieties of every day items including cookies, and pastries were added to the bakery.
  • The organic section was expanded by 4 feet to accommodate customers who are making a commitment to healthy eating, along with new seafood and service meat counter.
  • A bigger varieties of wines, and a selection of cold wines and the "our pick" six imported bottle beers have also been added.
  • The pharmacy has a new consultation area where customers can receive all of the immunizations.
  • The stores now have a Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop, with expanded inventory to include apparel for all the local Texarkana schools.
  • The floral department was moved to the fronts of the stores so customers can stop and smell the flowers to make shopping pleasant.
