Louisiana man dies in two-vehicle crash

A Vivian, La., man died in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and Arkansas Highway 27 in Sevier County, Ark.,
according to Arkansas State Police Trooper Clayton McWilliams.

James M. Eakin, 58, of Vivian was pronounced dead at the scene by Sevier County Coroner Rusty Williams. The accident was reported at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday.

Eakin was driving a 2000 Toyota Tundra westbound on Highway 27.

A 2007 GMC Envoy driven by Lori A. Davis, 51, of Ashdown, Ark., was traveling southbound on Highway 71.

Eakin failed to stop at the intersection and collided with Davis.

Eakin continued westbound, hit a tree and was ejected from the Toyota.

Davis was transported by ambulance to Little River Memorial Hospital in Ashdown for treatment of injuries.
