LINDEN, Texas-Rivercrest needed a big third quarter and had to stop a late rally by Linden-Kildare to post its district win.
Going into halftime down 15-12, Rivercrest outscored the Lady Tigers, 22-5, in the third quarter, only to see them climb back in the fourth before coming away with the 40-34 victory.
Linden-Kildare's Skylar Vaughn scored a game-high 18 points. Siarra Johnson had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and teammate Jaimya Gaston finished with 16 rebounds.
Katelyn Womack ended the game with 11 points for Rivercrest.
Rivercrest also won the boys junior varsity game, 38-30, and Nate Holloway finished with a game-high 15 points for the Tigers.
Linden-Kildare (6-12, 1-2) will travel to Maud on Jan. 2.
