Holiday Cheer: Christmas Parade brings joy tonight to Downtown Texarkana

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Twin Cities.

And that will be true tonight more than ever.

Yes, the 34th Annual Texarkana Christmas Parade will begin at 7 p.m. in Downtown Texarkana.

The parade, which has a "My Favorite Christmas Memory" theme, begins on Broad Street and continues along before turning north on Texas Boulevard. The parade turns east on W. Third Street and then North again on State Line before ending at the landmark Downtown Post Office. There are about 114 entries in this year's parade-colorful floats, marching bands, dance troops, baton twirlers, antique cars and so much more. The Texas Camel Corps will be back this year and if you arrive at 5 p.m. you and your family can have a photo taken with the "ships of the desert."

Of course, the star of the show is Santa Claus. That jolly old elf will once again be coming to Texarkana to say hello to all the good little boys and girls.

And after the parade, Santa will be at Joe's Pizza and Pasta to pose for photos with kids of all ages.

Yes, the Texarkana Christmas Parade offers something for the whole family. So come out a bit early and get a good place for parade watching. And bundle up. According to the forecast there is, fortunately, little chance of rain but temperatures will be around the mid-40s so that means a chill in the air. And that's just the way it should be as Christmas comes to Texarkana.
