Hornets one-hit Bears, earn shutout

HOOKS, Texas-Braydon Ross threw a 1-hitter shutout as Hooks shut out DeKalb, 9-0, at Hornet Field on Tuesday.

Ross tossed a complete game over seven innings, struck out eight, walked two, doubled, singled, and drove in a run.

T.J. Krause, Marquiz Estell, Slate Ruth, and Carter Duncan had two hits apiece for the Hornets.

Conner Price and Mason Vasquez drove two runners home each.

James Bowie 3, Maud 1

SIMMS, Texas-Evan Barron's 11 strikeout performance helped lead James Bowie over Maud Tuesday night.

Barron also went 1 for 2 at the plate with a double and RBI.

Garrett Brown finished 2 for 3 at the dish for the Pirates, while teammate Whitt Rogers finished 1 for 2.

Atlanta 17, Paul Pewitt 0

ATLANTA, Texas-Atlanta run-ruled Paul Pewitt Tuesday in their varsity game at Rabbit Field.

Max Ebarb received the win on the bump for the Rabbs. Ebarb finished the contest with six strikeouts and 3 RBI at the plate.

Cooper McClure added two hits for the Rabbs and also six strikeouts in his two innings of work.

 

Softball

Redwater 10, Queen City 0

QUEEN CITY, Texas-Bethanee Calicott struck out 12 and earned the win as the Lady Dragons romped to a victory over the Lady Bulldogs.

Redwater totaled 15 hits at the dish. Keeley Wilbur and Jordan Walraven had three hits each.

Kassidy Warner, Lexie Robinson and Haley Latham each had two hits for the Dragons, who are 3-0 in district.

Redwater hosts DeKalb on Tuesday.

James Bowie 9, Bloomburg 6

SIMMS, Texas-Addy Hammons nine strikeouts helped the James Bowie edge Bloomburg on Lady Pirate Field Tuesday night.

Hammons also added two singles, a triple and a RBI at the dish.

Sarah Bruce added two singles for the Lady Pirates and teammate Khloe Walker added a triple and a RBI.

 

Soccer

Pleasant Grove 4, Paris 3

Lauren Hughes' two goals in overtime helped lead Pleasant Grove over Paris in their varsity soccer match at Hawk Field.

The match was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation.

Haley Hearn and Aubrey Oller also added goals for the Lady Hawks on their penalty kicks.

Pleasant Grove's junior varsity squad blanked Paris, 1-0.

Kendall Johnson scored the lone goal of the match on an assist by Avery Cornish.
