Tiger JV defeats Arkansas High varsity in tennis

TEXARKANA, Texas - Texas High's junior varsity defeated Arkansas High's varsity, 14-6, in tennis action Thursday on the Tigers' home courts.

Hawk JV beats Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, Texas - Pleasant Grove defeated Pittsburg, 46-14, in junior varsity football action Thursday night.

The Hawks scored on Trent Kelley's 5- and 3-yard runs; Coy Martin's 35-yard interception return for TD; Ahkari Johnson's 50-yard TD pass to Brenton Clark; Colin Manning's 20-yard run; J.M Long's 40-yard TD pass to Johnson; and Coy Martin's 3-yard run.

Jayden Stewart and Johnson also ran for 2-point conversions.

L-E ninth grade 12, Evangel 8

The Leopards won this ninth-grade defensive battle. Greg London scored both Liberty-Eylau touchdowns on runs of 14 and 9 yards.

Defensive standouts for the Leopards were: Kaden Allen, Kourtland Jordan, Cameron Hadaway and Caleb Parks. L-E offensive standouts included Hagen Power, Shamar Pickett and Greg London.

Hawks takes 3 from Pirates

PITTSBURG, Texas - Pleasant Grove Middle School fell one game short of a sweep against Pittsburg.

The Hawks won three middle school football games against the homestanding Pirates.

PG won the eighth-grade B game, 6-0, on Dillion Conant's 7-yard rushing touchdown.

The Hawks won the seventh grade A game, 38-8. Scoring touchdowns for PG were: Roland Richie had a 28-yard run, Walker Wright threw a 60-yard pass to Jaybren Baltimore, Terrell Pattin had a 10-yard run, Jamarion Richardson had a 40-yard run.

Pleasant Grove posted a 35-0 shutout in the seventh-grade B contest. Scorers for the Hawks were: Kenmarion Jones (40-yard run), Aiden Gatlin (10-yard pass from Ben Carpenter), Amani Hawkins (30-yard run), Tyson Neal had a rushing TD, and Preston White a 15-yard rushing TD.

Pittsburg's only win came in the eighth-grade A game, with the Pirates winning 28-14.

Jarrett Halter scored both Hawk touchdowns on a 10-yard pass from Princeton Vaughn and a 15-yard pass from Lance Jackson.

Pleasant Grove plays host to Paris North Lamar next Thursday.

Redwater eighth-graders win

DEKALB, Texas - Redwater coasted to a 28-6 decision over DeKalb in the eighth-grade game.

Redwater scores came on Marquez Jones' 57-yard TD run, Gavin Carrell scored on run of 16 and 49 yards and Marquez Jones had a 49-yard dash for a TD.

The Bears won the seventh-grade contest, 40-6. Redwater averted the shutout when JaQuan Mitchell bolted 59 yards for a touchdown as the game ended.

Volleyball

TMS wins 2 of 3 matches

SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas - Texas Middle School won 2-of-3 matches against host Sulphur Springs.

In the eighth-grade A match, TMS won, 25-21, 26-24. Kiahna Forsyth served 10 points for the victors.

The visitors also won the seventh-grade A contest, 25-19, 15-25, 25-22. Karasha Hayes served 10 points for the Tigers.

Sulphur Springs won the seventh-grade B match, 25-11, 25-15. Alexxys Reed and Addison Keener had four points each for TMS.
