Active COVID-19 cases, deaths continue to climb in Bowie County

Active COVID-19 cases in Bowie County, Texas, rose by more than 70 from Monday to Thursday, reaching a total of 760, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Active cases in the county have increased by almost 200 since Dec. 31. Bowie County's COVID-19 death toll reached 128 on Thursday, an increase of four since Monday.

Cumulative confirmed coronavirus cases in the county rose from 3,118 to 3,179 Monday to Thursday, with 3,386 recoveries.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas from Monday to Thursday, Morris County's total case count went up from 375 to 391, Cass County's from 906 to 916 and Titus County's from 2,153 to 2,198, according to TDSHS. Red River County's case count was adjusted downward from 315 to 314.

In Southwest Arkansas from Monday to Thursday, Miller County's

active cases fell from 185 to 140 as total cases rose from 2,026 to 2,070, according to the Arkansas

Department of Health. There have been 1,913 recoveries and 17 deaths because of COVID-19 in the county.

Lafayette County's total case count increased from 264 to 271, Pike County's from 564 to 597, Nevada County's from

527 to 529, Little River County's from 685 to 704, Howard County's from 822 to 835, Hempstead County's from 1,103 to 1,044 and Sevier County's from 1,565 to 1,571, according to ADH.

In Northwest Louisiana, Caddo Parish's case count increased from 18,308 to 19,113 and Bossier Parish's from 9,163 to 9,594, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 200,531 confirmed cases and 3,926 deaths, Louisiana reported 338,054 cases and 7,728 deaths, and Texas reported 1,666,487 cases and 28,938 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday reported 21,259,997 total cases in the U.S. so far, with a national death toll of 359,849.
