TEXARKANA, TEXAS -- A Hooks, Texas woman was killed Thursday afternoon in a vehicle accident on Interstate 30 west of Texarkana.
Amanda Butler, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a preliminary report from the Texas Department of Public Safety. The accident happened at 5:20 p.m. in the westbound lane about 3 miles west of Texarkana.
Butler was driving a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis when her vehicle struck the rear of a trailer being towed by an International tractor-trailer. Truck driver Ibarra Ivarro, 49, of Gloria Mendino, Mexico, had slowed had slowed because a previous crash was blocking the westbound lane, according to the report.
Ivarro was not injured, according to the report.
The accident remains under investigation.
