DALLAS, Texas -- Charles Brooks Jr. is wanted on a warrant out of Dallas County for cutting off his ankle monitor, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Brooks' location is unknown.

Brooks is from Atlanta, Texas, and also has a residence in Dallas. He was arrested in May 2021 on a charge of injury to a child with intent to cause severe bodily injury and serious mental deficiency or impairment, according to law enforcement.

The charge is a first-degree felony punishable by a maximum sentence of 99 years or life in prison and/or a maximum fine of $10,000. He was released on bail from the Dallas County jail but required to wear an ankle monitor.

Brooks allegedly cut his ankle monitor off on Jan.11 and a no-bond warrant was issued the same day, said a spokeswoman for the Dallas County District Attorney's Office.

Brooks' stepson, Blake Sampson, 3, remains hospitalized for a serious head injury and brain bleed. Blake's mother, Madison Ball, is a Texarkana resident. Blake was taken to a Dallas hospital on April 22. Brooks was arrested shortly after in connection with Blake's injuries.

(Anyone with information on Brooks' location should contact the Dallas County District Attorney's Office at 214-653-3600.)
