TEXARKANA, Texas -- A Mississippi man has been arrested in a 2020 fatal shooting at a local restaurant.

Cedric Alexander, 31, of Wall, Mississippi, was arrested Thursday on a murder charge in the death of Jermaine Aldridge on Dec. 31, 2020, at Chili's restaurant.

Alexander is being held in the Bi-State Justice Center jail. Bail is set at $1 million.

After receiving a 911 call on New Year's Eve 2020, police officers found Aldridge lying between two cars in the Chili's parking lot about 4:30 that afternoon. He had been shot once in the back and died at the scene.

"Although there was very little information initially, our detectives never gave up on solving this case. They continued to go through evidence, track down leads and interview people who might know something about what happened that day," said Shawn Vaughn, spokesman for the Police Department. "Those efforts eventually paid off and ultimately led to Alexander's arrest for the murder."

Alexander's connection to Texarkana or relationship with the victim was not immediately known.

Detectives are still investigating and more arrests are likely in the coming weeks, Vaughn said.

Anyone with information about the crime, should call Texarkana Texas Police Department at 903-798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP.
